FMP focuses on the survival of children
and implements programs that: promote breast-feeding for infants; provide
immunization for women and children; conduct supplemental feeding and
distribute micro-nutrients to malnourished children; improve feeding
practices for children; provide treatment, education and training for
control of malaria, acute respiratory infections and diarrheal disease.

| Desired direct benefits include
decrease in infant mortality, increased number of mothers breast-feeding
children, decrease in rate of incidence of immuno-preventable diseases,
increase in coverage rate of children immunized, decrease in incidence of
diarrhea and cholera among small children, and decreased incidence of
malnutrition.

| Educational programs directly effect an
increase in literacy among disadvantaged pre-school and school-age
children, increased rate of school attendance, and positive impact in
behavioral responses. School feeding programs increase attention span and
comprehension level.
